LinkedIn post, document carousel (PDF slides), and native video sizes with mobile-first tips.

LinkedIn content works best when it looks sharp on mobile and hooks readers before they tap “see more.”

Standard post

Best default for organic images: 1:1 at 1080×1080.

Useful alternates:

  • 4:5 for taller mobile presence
  • 1.91:1 when the creative is primarily a link-style card

Copy tip: put the hook in the first ~140-210 characters, before the fold.

How to ask:

  • “LinkedIn post, square image 1:1, professional tone, strong first two lines, soft CTA.”

Text-only posts are fine when the message is the star. Ask for “text only” if you do not need an image.

Document carousel (LinkedIn document / PDF carousel)

On LinkedIn, the high-performing “carousel” is usually a multi-page document post (PDF-style slides), not a multi-image album.

Best default: 4:5, about 7 slides (soft max around 12).

Why it works:

  • Slide-by-slide storytelling keeps people swiping
  • Large titles read well on mobile
  • Document posts often outperform plain link dumps

How to ask:

  • “LinkedIn document carousel, 7 slides, 4:5, one idea per slide, bold titles, closing CTA slide.”

You can also say “LinkedIn carousel” or “PDF carousel.” The assistant will treat it as a document-style slide pack.

Native video

Best default: 9:16 (mobile-first) at 1080×1920.

Useful alternates: 1:1 or 16:9.

Duration sweet spot is often about 30-90 seconds. Open with a clear hook; captions help when sound is off.

How to ask:

  • “LinkedIn native video, vertical 9:16, about 60 seconds, captions on screen, professional but human tone.”

Tone and structure

  • Prefer concrete insights over vague inspiration
  • Use short paragraphs and line breaks
  • End with a question or clear next step when engagement matters
  • Keep claims accurate; LinkedIn audiences notice fluff

Common mistakes

  • Tiny landscape strips that waste mobile screen space
  • Dumping a URL with no document or visual story
  • Burying the hook after a long preamble
  • Calling a multi-image dump a carousel when you meant a document post
