Static pin and video pin sizes for Pinterest, with 2:3 defaults, readable titles, and discovery tips.
Pinterest is a discovery network. Pins should look intentional in the feed, with readable titles on the creative itself.
Static pin
Best default: 2:3 at 1000×1500.
Why: this is the long-standing sweet spot for standard Pins. Avoid going much taller than about 1:2.1, or the feed may truncate the bottom.
Creative tips:
- Put a clear title on the pin (high contrast)
- Show the outcome or product clearly
- Keep text large enough for mobile
- Prefer vertical compositions over wide banners
How to ask:
- “Pinterest pin, 2:3 at 1000x1500, high-contrast title on the image, lifestyle product shot, short description.”
Video pin
Best default: 9:16 at 1080×1920 (with 2:3 as a useful alternate when you need a static-like frame).
Keep the title readable on the cover frame. Open with a visual hook; many people decide in the first second whether to watch.
How to ask:
- “Pinterest video pin, 9:16, short demo, readable title on the first frame, soft CTA in the description.”
Description and discovery
- Lead the description with keywords people actually search
- Match the on-pin title to the promise in the description
- Link to a relevant landing page or blog post when you have one
- Design for saves and clicks, not only likes
Common mistakes
- Pins taller than ~1:2.1 that get cropped awkwardly
- Tiny text that fails on mobile
- Landscape creatives that look small in the vertical feed
- Titles only in the description (not on the pin image)
